2018 Volkswagen Tiguan - TSI Engine

The 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan will soon make its way to David Maus Volkswagen, and when it arrives, it will come equipped with a new engine. An updated version of the brand’s 2.0L EA888 four-cylinder engine, complete with a turbocharger and direct injection, can be found on the new model, offering more power and efficiency.

The small 2.0L TSI engine is already expected to offer greater fuel efficiency than the 1.8L Gen 3 engine, which is included on models like the Passat and Jetta. This is thanks to the variable valve timing system on the intake camshaft, which can switch between short and long valve opening, to maximize efficiency. A modified Miller combustion system cycle has also been added to Tiguan that helps deliver longer combustion and improves the mixing of fuel and air to deliver a more efficient driving range.

On top of these changes, the engine features a revised cylinder head, valve springs, cast-iron block and aluminum-alloy pistons. These upgrades and more allow the powerplant to deliver 184 horsepower and 221 lb.-ft. of torque, which is a 20 percent increase compared to last year’s model.

Take the new engine for a test run when the 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan lands at our Orlando Volkswagen dealership in the near future. Following its release on the Tiguan, you’ll soon be able to find it on other models in Volkswagen’s lineup of first-class cars and SUVs.
