Whether you choose to lease or purchase a Volkswagen, our priority is you enjoy each step of the journey.

Program Details

The First Time Buyer Program is open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents looking to lease or finance a vehicle. This program is designed for individuals who are new to automotive credit, and while you don't have to have a credit history, your existing credit must be in good standing.¹

Eligible Vehicles:

• New Volkswagen Vehicles
• Certified Pre-Owned Volkswagen Vehicles
• Pre-Owned Volkswagen Vehicles

Should You Lease or Finance

If you choose to lease, you'll drive a brand new Volkswagen for a predetermined duration and mileage. At the end of your lease term, you have the option to buy the vehicle or return it.

Benefits of Car Leasing

• Drive Without Long-Term Commitment: Leases typically last for a few years, giving you the flexibility to switch to a different vehicle when the lease ends.
• Limited Depreciation Risk: Since you don't own the car, you're not as affected by its depreciation in value over time.
• Lower Monthly Payments: Monthly lease payments are typically lower than loan payments for purchasing a vehicle, making it more affordable.
• Reduced Maintenance Costs: With a new car under warranty, you'll likely have lower repair and maintenance expenses.

If you choose to finance, you will buy your vehicle and make payments for it over a specified term set by your first time car buyer loan. Once that term is completed, full vehicle ownership is transferred to you.

• No Mileage Restrictions: A financed car has no mileage limits, allowing you to drive as much as you want.
• Customization: You can personalize and modify the vehicle to your liking since you're the owner.
• Credit Building: Regular, on time payments can positively impact your credit score.
• No Lease-End Restrictions: There are no restrictions on the vehicle's condition or use at the end of the financing term.

What to Bring with You to the Dealership

• Documentation of income, including at least one year of continuous full-time employment with your present employer, along with an income that adequately covers all of your financial responsibilities.
• The name and number of someone within the Human Resources Department of your employer
• Documents verifying your address and phone number
• A copy of United States Social Security card
• Two personal references from residents residing in the United States, including each one's address and phone number. One of these references must be a relative. Volkswagen will be contacting these people directly.
