What's New for the 2018 Volkswagen Passat?

The 2018 VW Passat is the newest Volkswagen vehicle to hit the open market and their newest Passat model for the 2018 year. The Passat is a sedan that has been around for six years and maintained the same look all this time, meaning it's essentially a timeless vehicle. The new model for this year has new features, including an updated four-cylinder engine with a better fuel efficiency rating and strength.

Trims & Features

The 2018 Passat comes with new trim levels and with those come their own set of special features and amenities. The Passat has six different trim levels: the S, R-Line, SE, SE with technology, GT and SEL Premium. The S trim is the basic standard model and comes with basic features like a turbocharged 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine, six-speed automatic transmission, a rearview camera and 16-inch alloy wheels. The R-Line model is a bit upgraded and comes with 19-inch alloy wheels, heated side mirrors, access to satellite radio and the Car-Net smartphone integration system with Apple CarPlay. The SE line comes with many of the R-Line's own features but also adds in 17-inch wheels, adaptive cruise control, a sunroof and rear air vents. The SE Technology special trim is an optional package that comes with 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, automatic windshield wipers, front and rear parking sensors and an upgraded Car-Net system. The GT trim is a combination of the R-Line and SE trim levels and has 19-inch wheels, sport-tuned suspension and a 3.6-liter V6 engine. The SEL Premium is the most advanced version and has features such as 18-inch wheel, power-folding mirrors, memory settings for the driver's seat, a Fender audio system and a lane departure warning system.


2018 Volkswagen Passat RearThe 2018 VW Passat is fitted with a sturdy engine that can handle all of the pressure, strength and stability needed to keep it running. The Passat's engine can handle creating a 174 horsepower rating at up to 5,000 wheel rotations per minute and can produce up to 184 feet per pounds of total torque. The engine contains special inline 4 cylinders with variable valve timing, a front wheel drive train and a six-speed shiftable automatic transmission. For fuel economy, the Passat gets a combined 29 miles per gallon for driving, getting 25 MPGs when driving through the city and 36 MPGs when on the highway. The car also runs on regular unleaded fuel, though the SEL and GT trims can operate on premium unleaded fuel.


2018 Volkswagen Passat InteriorThe VW Passat is a safe vehicle and has been granted measures to ensure that it stays as such. As far as car safety goes, passengers are always taken care of and this starts with the inclusion of rear door safety locks and child seating anchors, in order to protect the younger passengers. A pre and post-collision safety system has also been included in the Passat, for keeping track of the vehicle's status before and after a car accident, should one take place. Furthermore, there is also an emergency braking assist feature for dealing with the potential failure of the brakes, as well as an engine immobilizer.
