What's New for the 2020 Volkswagen Passat?

The new Passat has a different look, inside and out. Redesigned to look more like the Jetta, it now features a broader grille and headlights. Standard features that change for 2020 include 17" aluminum wheels and LED lighting. Moving inside of the cabin, drivers will find the newly standard 8" touchscreen with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

What are the Available Trims and Features for 2020?

The Passat is available in two different trim levels. They are known as the Wolfsburg and SE R-Line. There are a variety of available features, depending on the trim and options you select. Drivers can choose from four interior colors and cloth, leatherette, or Nappa leather for the seating surfaces.

There are many features aimed at keeping people in both the front and back seat of the midsize sedan comfortable. Rear passengers will find more than three feet of legroom, letting even taller people stretch out comfortably. Available in 2020 is dual-zone automatic climate control and dual rear USB ports. Heated seats are available for both the front and back seats. Other convenient available features include push-button start, rain-sensing wipers, keyless entry, and remote start.

Although 17" wheels are standard, the R-Line upgrades these to eye-catching 19" two-tone alloy ones. A power sunroof is available with the ability to tilt and slide, letting in plenty of daylight. VW Car-Net Security & Service is available, which unlocks many useful features. With this, the mobile app on your phone can alert you if you have left your sunroof open and it begins to rain. It can also let you know if you have left your vehicle to unlock and then lock it for you remotely.

2020 Passat Powertrain Options

2020 Volkswagen PassatIn 2020, there is only one engine available for the Passat. It is a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine and it will give you 174-horsepower as well as 207 lb-ft of torque. Although this is the same engine, it has been tweaked to produce more torque than in 2019, when it only gave you 184 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. With these engine options, it is clear that you should consider giving these vehicles a test drive.

Safety Features in the Forefront for 2020

2020 Volkswagen PassatVolkswagen continues to offer you plenty of standard safety tech. You will find Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Blind Spot Monitoring. Available features include Lane Keep Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control. Also available in 2020 is a parking assist feature.
