2021 Volkswagen Passat Exterior

What's New For the 2021 Volkswagen Passat?

The Volkswagen Passat was recently refreshed in 2020, so it does not significantly change for the 2021 model year. The Passat still has some of the top capacity in its class for passengers and cargo. The Passat gets some minor changes to specific trims in 2021, including the addition of a leather-wrapped steering wheel, shift knob, and emergency braking handle on the S trim. A sunroof is standard on the SE, and the R-Line adds navigation. The SEL model that formerly topped the lineup has been eliminated in 2021.

Which Features Are Available for 2021?

There are three Passat trim levels in 2021. The first trim is the S. With this model, you'll get standard LED headlights, cloth seats, and 17-inch wheels. Technology includes a 6.3-inch infotainment display screen that has Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Smartphone pairing is another highlight of the base model's technology. This trim also has plenty of safety features.

The SE builds on that list with leather seats and heated front seats. It also comes with dual-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, and a power-adjustable driver's seat. You will also get a sunroof with the SE. The R-Line, which is now the top trim in 2021, gets larger 19-inch wheels and a sportier exterior design scheme. The R-Line gets a revised instrument cluster with a multi-function display screen. It also has lane-keep assist as a standard safety feature. Premium leather seats are added to the R-Line as well, and you can choose to get heated rear seats for everyone's comfort.

What's Under the Hood of the Passat?

All trim levels of the Volkswagen Passat use the same engine in 2021, a turbocharged 2.0L engine with four cylinders. This engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The Passat's engine delivers up to 174 HP and 206 LB-FT of torque. Sporty paddle shifters allow you to handle the gearing on demand.

2021 Volkswagen Passat Safety Technologies

Several safety features are standard on the 2021 Passat, and more are added on the higher-end trims. At the least, the Passat comes with blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, and forward-collision warning. Seat belts are included on all trims, along with advanced airbags. The Passat can be equipped with more safety features on the higher-end trims, including lane-keep assist that comes standard on the R-Line.
