The Volkswagen Tiguan has long been a favorite among drivers, and now there’s even more to appreciate. Recently, the Tiguan earned a 5-star safety crash test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the highest score a vehicle can receive. Beyond its strong structure, the Tiguan offers a wide range of safety features designed to protect occupants during a collision, along with a collection of advanced driver-assistance technologies.

Volkswagen models have been selected for Car and Driver's prestigious list of editors' choice picks for 2023. With six releases, Volkswagen managed to score six models on the list. The recommended models are, in order: the all-new Golf GTI, Golf R, ID.4, Jetta GLI, Taos, and Tiguan. Editors selected these vehicles from across Car and Driver's national staff, who tested them extensively with valued readers in mind.
 

Back in 1949, a Dutch businessman by the name of Ben Pon arrived in New York with two vehicles. These vehicles would later become known as the Volkswagen Type 1 Beetle. This was a groundbreaking event because no auto manufacturer in America had marketed any kind of small or compact vehicle. The German automaker has gone on to sell over 17 million vehicles over the years. A few months ago, Volkswagen celebrated their 70th anniversary in America. A celebration took place at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Superior Technology

Nowadays, it takes a lot more than exterior appearances to make a car popular. It takes superior technology, high-performance, and exceptional safety to earn a car buyer's complete acceptance. And, for almost five decades the Volkswagen Golf GTI has delivered those high-quality features, and many more, in abundance.

According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's Highway Loss Data Institute, the Volkswagen Golf GTI 4-door hatchback, Tiguan 4-door SUV and Jetta 4-door sedan are most likely the safest models available in the 2019 lineup. The system used by the IIHS HLDI rates different aspects of vehicle crashworthiness as either good, acceptable marginal or poor.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has handed out Top Safety Pick awards to six Volkswagen models this year. Four 2017 Golf models and the Passat scored a Top Safety Pick rating from the organization, while the 2017 Jetta received the highest honor: a Top Safety Pick+ rating.
